Extraordinary by every measure …
The “D” is Delaware’s premier wedding, banquet,
meeting and special events facility, located on the picturesque grounds
of Deerfield Golf & Tennis Club. Seldom do we get a chance to honestly
use the word “grand” today. But that is the only word that can
adequately express the unique appeal of this truly extraordinary
facility.
The “D” at Deerfield is a versatile, elegant events
facility that can accommodate almost any need – from corporate meetings
in one of several distinctive meeting and function rooms – to a grand
reception for up to 500 guests in The Ballroom at The “D.” In
addition, The “D” includes a public restaurant – The
Grille at The “D” – serving lunch, dinner and
cocktails from 11am to dark every day.
Stately architecture and classic columns give The “D” a
refined air everywhere you look … fine art adorns virtually every
wall … exquisite décor is tastefully understated … continuous
walls of floor-to-ceiling glass connect this elegant interior to a wide,
flowing Terrace and the breathtaking, natural setting that surrounds The “D” – beautiful,
landscaped grounds, manicured fairways and greens as well as panoramas of
the scenic ancient forest of White Clay Creek State Park.
Heritage
Originally built by the DuPont Corporation for its employees in 1955, the
club was called Louviers Country Club. In 1994 MBNA purchased the
club from DuPont and built the new clubhouse ballroom and recreational building,
renaming it Deerfield Golf & Tennis Club. In 2005 the state of Delaware acquired
the 145-acre property to protect the land from development. The club is
part of Delaware’s White Clay Creek State Park supervised by the Delaware
Division of Parks and Recreation.
In February 2006 the Division of Parks and Recreation retained Forewinds
Hospitality to manage the property. Forewinds is in the midst of a myriad
of capital improvements to enhance the unequaled grand elegance of this
natural treasure. Deerfield Golf & Tennis Club opened to the public
for the first time in 51 years on April 14, 2006.
